Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Otoplasty is the term for a range of procedures which may be performed to reshape and reposition the external ear.
Otoplasty involves reshaping and repositioning the cartilage of the external ear. It is this cartilage which gives the external ear it's shape. The most commonly required change is to create a new cartilage fold to sit the outer portion of the ear closer into towards the scalp.
For any individual, otoplasty must be designed to address the factors that have caused their ear changes. The extent of changes to the ear tissues dictate which procedures will be required. The goal is to achieve balance; and where possible restore proportion.
